Please note that among the winning films of the monthly competitions (not all), those selected to participate in the Grand Finale in Tangier will be chosen, with public screenings from November 22nd to 24th, 2024, culminating in the Gala Finale. Films that win in a particular category in the monthly competitions will continue to compete in other categories they have entered if selected for the Grand Finale in Tangier.

"The Strong Man of Bureng" by Mauro Bucci


An engaging journey through Gambia, Finland, and Italy, following the story of Essa, a former UN soldier and refugee, and his struggle to achieve well-being for himself and his loved ones. The film explores how the protagonist successfully established a business in Europe to financially help his village in Africa: Bureng. However, the outbreak of the Coronavirus gravely challenges Essa’s privileged position and his family's stability, leading him to one of the most serious crises of his life.

“Monument to Love” features a journey with my mother, Ika Comforty Ovadia, for over 25 years to research, document, and uncover the narrative of the Jewish people during the Holocaust in Bulgaria. She shared memories and read passages from her diary which revealed her observations, thoughts and feelings, as a young woman, facing a broken world, plunging into war. Kind acts of friendship she experienced contrast the cruel times and the dangers she and others escaped. Ika's story is an anti-war manifesto, confronting totalitarianism and supremacy, and erecting a Monument to Love.
